Week 34 & 35
Hey All,
Another amazing couple of weeks. BC is such a pretty place, and it's been amazing to be serving here in North Shore. The friends we're working with have been doing really well, they're learning English and the gospel at such a fast pace.
Week 34
On Sunday, we had the chance to go to Sechelt, which is on the coast of BC. It's a really amazing place, but having to get up at 5:30am to make it to the ferry was not fun haha. The views made up for it though, it was so cool. It was nice and sunny, and the ocean was so nice, even though we didn't get that close to it. The branch (which is the name of a small group of members in an area) was also awesome, they were really excited to have us there which was nice.
During the week we also had the chance to explore a bit, we went up to Squamish again, it was a ton of fun. We visited Shannon Falls and met some members that were visiting at the same time which was fun.
That's honestly all of the really large events that happened, there were tons of little miracles but I can't list them all since it'd be a VERYY long email haha.
Week 35:
Welp, this was another awesome week. We had our district Pday on Monday which was pretty fun. We played some pickleball, which is a combination of badminton, ping pong and tennis (first time for me) and some volleyball. We also got sushi together and it was really good, the sisters even set up an appointment with one of the waitresses, it was amazing to watch.
On Tuesday we had to go get our Nissan's bellypan fixed (not our fault!) and it ended up taking way longer that we thought haha. We called the other elders for a ride home from the appointment when we didn't have our car, but we actually walked to the dealership to pick it up when they were done. It was actually pretty fun, and it's led us to walk around to places a bit more.
Throughout the week we had the chance to teach quite a few of our friends, and a new one that we met is named Farhad. His English is quite good, and he's interested in learning about our church!
On Sunday, we saw an amazing miracle as 7 of our friends watched online or came to church in person! Farhad actually brought his entire family with him, it was such an amazing thing to see. We got him the digital Book of Mormon, and are now working to get him a copy in Persian.
This week I was finally able to go to a Brazilian store, I was able to buy some of my favourites: guarana, suco de maracuja (passion fruit juice) and coxinha, it was so nice!!!! A little expensive but so worth. My companions also bought some Brazilian cookies and now they are hooked, haha, we are planning to go back in the near future. One other thing that I saw there and really wanted was “brigadeiro” but it was soooooo expensive… so I did the next best thing, I asked my mom for the recipe and she videotaped herself making some all the way from our kitchen in Brampton, Ontario, I followed her instructions but my first try didn’t go so well since I didn’t know how strong our mission microwave was… I tried couple more times and now I am almost a “brigadeiro master”, haha. It is getting so good that I am now making them as gift to families we visit and teach.
Overall, it's been an awesome couple of weeks, and I'm excited for what's to come. It blows my mind that the transfer is almost over and that I'm almost at 9 months as a missionary. I'm grateful I'm able to do this, and hope everyone has a good week!
