Week 21 & 22

Hey all! Sorry I missed last week's email, honestly just forgot to write it haha. So here's a summary of both last week and this week! Week 21: There was lots of rain this past week, and it's pretty gloomy some days but we still manage to have fun and enjoy ourselves. It's definitely a new thing for me to see so much rain and so little snow haha. At around the middle of the week we did this thing called exchanges, which is when we trade companionships for a day to work with a district leader so they can see how you and your area are doing. This week I spent a full day working with Elder Vos while my official companion Elder Whitney worked with Elder Kleven. The interesting thing about this exchange was that Elder Vos’ mission is Chinese speaking meaning I helped him to teach some lessons in Chinese haha. And to answer any questions on that, nope I don’t speak any Chinese. It was a very cool experience. Elder Golding, Elder Whitney, Elder Orr, Elder Crowfoot, Elder Stock...

Week 20

Hey everyone! This week was a pretty exciting one haha. From time to time something different happens and this week I have two things to share, first is that we are teaching a young man directly from Kenya, we found him on a Christian Facebook page and started chatting, this week we will have our third call with him, internet can be such a blessing, his name is John and hopefully he will soon be able to meet in person with missionaries who are serving in Kenya. The second thing is that we were asked to help as “English Mentors” where we can teach newcomers to speak English and our first “contact” was a man called Jonathan who native’s language is Spanish. We were surprised to learn that he didn’t speak ANY English at all (for some reason we thought he would know some basic words, lol) and of course we didn’t speak any Spanish either, we kind panicked for a short second and then I tried using my Portuguese. It was great, we were able to teach him half of the lesson using my Portuguese a...

Week 19

Hey everyone! This week was quite different from my other Transfer weeks, especially since I didn't actually get transferred, haha. Since Elder Whitney and I are both staying we didn't really need to adjust all that much. For a few days we weren't sure if we were still social media leaders, but we are now sure that we still are! Honestly, missionary life doesn’t change much from week to week, we just keep going and talking to as many people as possible about the gospel, but there was a pretty awesome ward Halloween party on Saturday. It was a primary activity (the young kids) and it was a lot of fun. We met with tons of different ward members and I was actually able to meet a family from Brazil! They're named the Diniz's and the father is from Sao Paulo. Looking forward to see and talk to them again to practice my Portuguese and ask where I can find Brazilian stuff in Langley, I am craving some guarana, lol. Our landlord gave us a “new to us” vacuum and it was prett...
