Week 101

Image
Another week, another realization that I'm close to finishing my mission haha. It's pretty surreal that I'm reaching this point, I definitely have mixed feelings about it as I've loved it out here. The people I've met, places I've been to and things I've gotten to do has all been amazing, and I'm glad I made the choice to come here. On the other hand, I'm also excited to see my family in person again, as well as what's next in store. I'll worry about that next week though, for now here's what went down this week! Honestly not a huge amount of stuff happened, we had the chance to visit with more members and friends in the ward which is always nice. On thursday evening right as we were arriving home we ended up getting a hole in our tire leading to it going flat overnight. Not a huge issue as I've been lucky enough to have good people teach me how to put on a spare, but it was still a funny adventure trying to get this tire on our car. ...

Week 100!!!!

Hey everybody, I finally hit triple digits weeks out here in BC! Pretty exciting!!! This week we had quite a few appointments set up with members of the ward, it was a pretty funny scenario. One of the members made calendars for both sets of missionaries and passed them around on Sunday, but our calendar was underneath the one for the sisters so not many people knew ours was there, which led to very few sign ups. The sister organizing it promised she would "make a sob story" and get the members to sign ours first the following week, and that's exactly what she did, haha. So we ended up at a members home most days of this week which was really nice, I really appreciate all that the members do for us. We also had the chance to go visit Ron again. It's always nice to see him, we got to help him get ready for the summer a bit with a wardrobe update, he's also making great progress on walking again after his injury which is great to see, I'm really proud of him. Alright, time to get on top of this for writing emails! This week we went to a nice Mexican place called El CompaƱeros (how fitting, haha) for my birthday lunch with the elders, it was pretty good. Not as good as El Sombrero back home but still pretty good. We also got to play some volleyball which is always fun and had the chance to go to the Desjardin's home to help out a bit with some wood chopping. It's been a while since I got to do some real chopping, at least since Salmon Arm so I was pretty happy about that. The Desjardin's are awesome, I'm glad I get to serve at their home often. On Saturday we had the chance to head down to Richmond for interviews. It was a different style of interview this time around, President Gill and I got to walk around a local park near the chapel. It was pretty funny, most of our discussion was about the logistics of where I will be spending my final night before I head home, haha. Overall it was a pretty good experience. Traffic wasn...

I'm still really bad at keeping up to date on these emails, but that doesn't mean cool stuff hasn't been happening! Let me get right into it. We had the really cool chance to make a video for a song Elder Whiting is working on. I can't give many details as it hasn't been released yet, but if you wanna look up Anchored in Christ on Facebook, one of his other videos is there. He's really talented and it was a lot of fun filming it. (There's fire involved haha). We also had the chance to meet with a few new friends, Manjit and Sandy, Christine and John. They're all awesome, definitely had some interest in what we do as missionaries as well as the message we share. It was great getting to talk to them all about the gospel and the happiness it brings. I'm excited to continue working with them, along with my new companion Elder Creighton. Elder Whiting actually got transferred out of Abbotsford after our 1 transfer together which was kind of surprising, bu...
