Week 10

Hey all, This week has actually been insane! To start, I did an exchange with my District Leader, which is basically where he comes to the area I'm serving in for 24 hours to see what it's like and better understand how to help us improve the area. It was really fun, his name is Elder Francis and he's a pretty awesome district leader. We did quite a bit of service and ate some local pizza. On Wednesday, as we were driving to our district council (which is our weekend meeting to discuss our specific areas) we got a call saying we were getting a new companion from the states! His name is Elder Yeager from Layton, Utah. He's super fun and has been out for a year before coming to Vancouver. His arrival meant we had to rearrange the apartment but it all worked out in the end. The rest of the week was similar to the rest of the Transfer, we did service quite a bit along with meetings and lessons where we can. It's been hectic and a little stressful trying to organize ever...

Week 9

Sorry I didn't send out an email last week, we got quite busy and it was difficult to get any writing or typing done. This week was just as busy but I'm committed to at least write this week haha. It's been a really good couple weeks for service in Mission, but the famous BC rainy season seems to have arrived earlier than normal this year. It's not strong rain like I'm used too in Ontario, but it does sprinkle or shower pretty much everyday now, with some nice breaks in-between. Doesn't stop the work from going forward though! I've been able to see so many amazing blessings and miracles through just trying to help out the community, and I've been able to see how the Lord is willing to help those who put in effort. While we haven't been able to have many dedicated lessons, we have been able to share messages of Christ with a lot more people lately. It kinda culminated in me giving my first talk Sunday the 22nd, which also meant I could invite even mor...

Week 7

Hey all! This week has been pretty crazy since it was the start of the second transfer (for me at least). For those who don't know what that is, transfers basically mean that companions get switched around and moved to different parts of the mission field, and you don't really know where you're going until like 2 days before. As mentioned in my previous email, Elder Mora is now up in Burns Lake. Because of that, I now have a new companion, Elder Coon. He's a fun guy and it's been really enjoyable trying to show him everything he needs to know about Mission City. He's been out 7 and a half months so he knows the drill, but since I've been in the area longer I'm the one who has to set up meetings and events with people. It was pretty stressful at first since I wasn't confident in my abilities to do that planning, but the Lord has definitely helped me reach out to those willing to have us over and help them out. Quite a few other missionaries went to di...

Week 6

Hey all, This week was pretty hectic. We didn't have tons of meetings with new people since we were trying to sort out all the end of Transfer business. Also due to transfers our pday got pushed to Tuesday this week. We had interviews with President Wahlen on the 30th, but before that we went to quite a few meetings and group activities with the other missionaries in the zone so we could work together before some of the them moved and whatnot. August 2nd is when the Transfer news actually came in, and I'll be staying in Mission another 6 weeks, while Elder Mora will actually be going all the way up to Burns Lake in the Prince George zone, which is the farthest north you can go in the mission area of BC lol. Quite a few other changes but I'm excited for the new chapter. As for the pday, we actually did a mountain hike of Evan's Peak which was really tiring but really worth it. It was great to talk with my district and the views were amazing. It did take up most of that d...
