Week 36 & 37
Alright, this time is not my fault, hahaha, yesterday I learned that due to some issues with my emails my mom never got my “week 36 email” and that is why this will be once again a combined one.
Week 36
This week was a pretty awesome one. I got to experience some new things, and also got to see lots of amazing miracles. To start off our week, we got to go up to Whistler with some members from the ward. It was amazing! The little town up there right next to the ski mountains had so many cool things, even though it was all super expensive haha. The members were super generous and bought us some clothes and they got us tickets to a light show in the mountains. It was such a cool time, and we even made it back home in time.
Later in the week, we were all able to go to a Brazilian steakhouse in downtown Vancouver. It was really good, but the bill made me cry, haha. There were a lot of people from Brazil there, and they all commented on my accent which was pretty funny.
Something that comes along with living with Tagalog speaking elders is them trying to convince us to eat Balut, which is basically a semi developed egg which you just eat. It always threw me off, and I never wanted to try it. The elders ended up convincing me to try some, it pretty much tasted like egg but I didn't eat very much haha.
Finally, yesterday (Feb 28) we got our transfer calls. It was so crazy, Elder Hernandez and Elder Weakland are opening a Tagalog area in Surrey, my companion Elder Edwards is going to Burns Lake in the PG zone, and I'm now the District Leader and am also picking up a brand new missionary from the MTC! For those who don't know what a District Leader is, they're basically missionaries who are assigned to oversee a group of missionaries and make sure the work is going smoothly. They also got to different meetings and reports on the numbers that the different missionaries put up that week. I'm definitely a little stressed but I'm excited to see what's to come.
Hope you're all doing well wherever you may be, and I want to remind anyone who may need it that God does genuinely love all of us.
Week 37
This week was another fun one! Let's get straight into it.
On Tuesday we had a nice Ward Game Night, it was a lot of fun.
On Wednesday I dropped Elder Edwards at the airport to send him to Prince George, it was super early in the morning and I was a little sad to send him off, but I'm excited for him and for the new transfer that just started. At end of the day we went to the Richmond office and picked up my new companion who just arrived from the MTC, his name is Elder Brown. He's from Louisiana and he's adjusting really well. We've been able to have a lot of lessons which definitely helps, and it's been really fun to serve with him here in North Shore.
The members here in North Shore have been amazing! They're so kind and willing to help in the work, and they even find people ready to learn more all by themselves. It's so amazing to see how everyone really can be influential in someone's life by just being kind and being there for them.
On Saturday some members took us out for lunch and we went to a very fancy Chinese Restaurant called Chang'an, it was so delicious. We also had the chance to visit Granville Island. Seriously, Vancouver is so beautiful!
I'm really stoked to see what's to come in this next week, and I hope everyone continues to do well and remember that God loves us all!
