Weeks 38 & 39
Hey Everyone! It's been an awesome couple of weeks, and I'm stoked to tell you all about it! Let's jump right in!
Week 38
Was a pretty crazy one, since we actually got to contact a whole ton of new people for the ESL program our mission runs! Basically, we receive people's names and numbers if they have shown interest in having English classes with us, and we ended up having like 10 different people reach out to us, which was such a miracle.
We also had the chance to attend Zone Conference, which is basically a meeting with all the missionaries in our zone where we go over some things we all want to work on along with our Mission President and his wife. It's definitely a bit different now that I'm a district leader as I have more responsibility during these meetings, haha. It's been a bit stressful but a really good learning experience, and I'm glad President Wahlen trusts me to do this.
During the Zone Conference I also got to see Elder Sprickerhoff, my best friend from back home after 9 months, haha! It was great to see him again, but now he's in Prince Rupert, way, way, way, way up north, so I probably won't see him again for a while.
Sunday was also a really awesome day, full of miracles! We had a bunch of our friends that we're working with come to church this week, and all of them mentioned how much they enjoyed it and how much they could feel the Spirit. It was really cool to see the joy and impact they were getting from going to church, and being a part of that is so rewarding.
Week 39
Was just as action packed, haha. We started off with some dinner with some members in the ward, which was a really fun time. They are so kind to us, and truly feel like family away from home.
We also had Zone Council on Wednesday this week. Zone council is a bit similar to Zone Conference, except our mission president doesn't attend Zone council and its not nearly as long, haha (Zone Conference is around 6 hours total, where Zone council is under 2). We also had the chance to gather as a district for a little bit afterwards for a district council. I was definitely quite stressed planning for this, haha, but I think it went well overall.
On Friday we had the amazing miracle of teaching Samuel! He was an ESL (English as Second Language) referral and once we met with him he just had so many questions about the church and about the restoration, it was amazing to see his curiosity and being able to answer to the best of our abilities.
Saturday we had another miracle! We had decided to go out for a little walk around the neighborhood, and once we were a couple minutes into that walk a couple came up to us and asked if we could help them. They told us they were praying for someone to come by and give them a hand, and that they were also interested in talking more about Jesus Christ! It's amazing what the Lord can do for us when we're putting in the effort.
Finally on Sunday, we had the chance to go up to Squamish. Squamish is roughly 70km from our home and takes us usually an hour to get there. It is a very small branch but I always feel so welcome there, It was great to be there for Sunday meetings and introduce Elder Brown to all of them, a very nice thing that the branch did was to get together and make lunch for us, we all ate in the Church building and we were able to talk to some friends and take some great pictures. Overall it was a great end of the week.
These past couple weeks were amazing, and I'm so glad I'm here in North Shore and am able to experience these miracles personally. I know that God lives, that Jesus is our Saviour and watches out for us, and that when we trust Them we can get so much farther than if we tried to do it all alone. I'm grateful for that knowledge.
I hope you're all doing well at home, and that you continue to trust in God as much as you can!
