Weeks 64, 65 & 66
I don’t even have an excuse anymore, haha, I'm just bad at writing my emails on time. Lots of cool stuff happened these last 3 weeks though.
We had the opportunity to work at the Good Food Box Service, which is a charitable service that the Catholic Church runs in our area. The process is very simple but very rewarding: we unload the food donated by some stores in the city and then we put the food in bins, bags or boxes that later will be donated to people around town who need it. I loved doing that.
During a combined men’s activity our ward mission leader invited us to play “archery tag”, we used safety masks and foam tip arrows, the place was very cool with barriers and stuff, lots of fun (yes, we asked permission to attend the activity).
We attended the Salmon Arm Fair and were able to talk to a lot of people and see many animals, my favourite was a little llama. A member treated us with some hot dogs at the fair, they were great!
Our district got together for P-day to try out the famous Dragons and Dungeons Game, I am still learning about it but it is pretty cool. We also have a member from our ward that is an avid player and his family invited us to come over to talk and paint some game miniatures, mine turned out pretty good, if I may say myself, haha.
By the way, just in case you don’t know P-day is our day off, which in our mission now is every Tuesday.
Another neat experience was to help Brother Smith to butcher a moose he hunted, there was so much meat!!! And no, I didn’t try moose meat yet.
We had a few exchanges with different missionaries, like the Zone Leaders and some elders in Kamloops. They were pretty fun and a good learning experience. We also had a few district Councils that led to us having a ton of fun. One of them was actually a combo trip where we went to Revelstoke as a district, it's a pretty cool place! Lots of awesome sites but it's pretty small.
Before we got to Revelstoke, we stopped by at the Dutchman's Dairy to get some chocolate milk, their chocolate milk is pretty famous around here. It's pretty good, the other elders liked it too so that was fun. In Revelstoke itself we had tacos and burritos which were pretty good. We then had some meetings with some different members out there which was awesome! They're really strong out there, and we're excited to see how they progress.
We also had a pretty awesome miracle with our friend Lindsay and her fiance Luis. They gave us a call a couple days ago and said they'd love to meet with us and learn about how the church can help them. It was awesome since we were having a really hard to contact them for a long while, so I'm super happy that they're still wanting to learn more.
Honestly lots of little things happened and my memory is not the best, so there are probably something I'm missing, but I'm just grateful for the time I've been here in Salmon Arm, and with our transfer calls happening yesterday and us staying, I'm excited for the next 6 weeks! Hope you're all doing well,
Elder Jacobowski
