Weeks 73 & 74
Hey all! Still bad at writing these weekly, but here we are!
So we had transfers right before this first week, and got the news that I was moving to Chilliwack with Elder Barlow and Elder Maher. It was pretty fun to hear I'd be with Elder Barlow again after serving with him in Prince George. That actually ended up changing since literally 24hrs after we arrived and started work in Chilliwack, he got e-transfered and Elder Court came out here. It was a pretty crazy turn of events that we didn't really expect but it was a fun new experience.
Here in Chilliwack we actually cover 2 wards and a branch, which is a big shift from other areas and is quite a lot of people. We go out to the Hope branch once a week, it's a small little town but it's got some good people in it and lots of cool little statues. It's actually where the first Rambo movie was filmed so they normally have a statue of him there, but it was taken down for the winter, kinda sad. It's right though, Hope is still cool.
Zone Conference also happened this week (November 14th), it was actually combined between Abbotsford and Surrey Zones, which was different and kind of fun. Got to see Elder Brayden Sprickerhoff again which was nice. Now he is my Zone leader so I get to see him quite a bit, it's been a long time coming, haha.
On November 18th we celebrated Elder Court’s birthday and I had sushi after 5 months!!!! By now you know how much I love sushi, hummmm. Life is good.
Already found the Chilliwack city welcome sign (kind of it), which is something I do in every area I serve.
We visited the “Zero Avenue” that marks the border between Canada and United States, don’t worry, I didn’t cross it. You can see Washington State from there, haha.
Another cool thing was meeting Brother Burt Graham, who is a very kind and talented person who makes awesome “mission plaques”, if you serve in Chilliwack you can get one… so I did!!! Love it.
We also went fishing this past Pday, it was my first time ever. Didn't catch any fish but it was pretty cool. Caught a lot of rain, though, hahaha.
As for the people we are teaching, we've been having some good success in meeting new people and helping them learn more about the church and how to come closer to God. One that sticks out to me is a lady named Samantha who lives in the Hope branch area, when we visited her we had an awesome discussion on her front step. When we finished with that, we left her with a prayer and right as we all opened our eyes, the sunset was bouncing off the mountains and she felt it was a sign saying she was going in the right direction. It was a pretty awesome miracle and we're excited for her to continue to grow.
Well, that's honestly about it for me for now, there are some pictures that I may have forgotten to talk about but it's been a pretty good couple of weeks. Chilliwack is a nice area and the people treat us well. Hope everyone is doing well wherever you are!
