Weeks 82, 83 & 84
Hey everyone, I'm just gonna jump straight into it. I'm sure yall expected me to be late again.
So week 82 had a couple wild events, one being a service that was held for some men who were tragically killed in a terrorism act in Africa. They were Muslim and the members of that faith wanted to hold a memorial in the chapel, and it was super cool to see all the different people of different faiths joining in mourning. The spirit was definitely very strong and I felt a great love for the people present and the people who had passed.
I also had some good laughs with some of the members in the ward. As we were driving to church one day we saw one of the members, Brother Loewen in his truck. He was going past us, but we actually managed to beat him to the church! (No I was not speeding), he even called us the speedsters and asked for the route we took haha.
In week 83 we had an amazing moment since our young friend Danso got baptized! He's 9, but had tons of awesome questions and really was prepared to be baptized, he didn't leave anything to chance. He's a really funny kid, it's been awesome to work with him.
We also visited with the Rozell family. They're a great group of people and their children are super smart! We got to talk about revelation and what it meant to them, it was super great to hear their ideas on what it means and how we can hear it.
We also got a chance to help this lady with her mother's home. It was a 8 missionary project, and was quite the crazy home. There was a lot of stuff and her mother has dementia so there was a lot of cleanup that needed to be done, she was super thankful we helped out when we did, it's not finished just yet but it's already looking way better.
Week 84 was also hectic, with lots of sport related things which makes me happy haha.
We got the chance to play some basketball with our ward mission leader and a friend of ours named Flavio, it was tons of fun! We also had an awesome volleyball night the next day, tons of people showed up and we had a blast playing.
On the weekend, we joined the ESL class the sisters run every week, it was quite funny to see them try to understand when the people spoke Spanish to each other, I didn't get all of it but knowing Portuguese definitely helps. Elder Smart also ended up wrecking his knee in the kitchen afterward, but we'll leave that vague. All you need to know is he's okay, and it was really funny!
To wrap up these past few weeks, we ate a bunch of tamales at Brother Herrera's home. 30 of them to be exact, we helped make them then kept going til we almost burst. It was soo good, I'm so grateful for them.
It's been a blast out here, and the Lord definitely has been helping me out a ton, hope yall are doing well. Reach out if you wanna chat!
